How to Measure a pants Inseam

Instructions

1.   Obtain an Inseam Measurement Using a Person

o    Have the person stand fully clothed, in a normal, comfortable position. The person must be wearing shoes with a standard heel.

o    Measure the right leg from the underside of the crotch (known as the top inseam point) to the bottom side of the ankle (the lowest inseam point).

o    Show the person where the hem will fall. Verify the length, if desired. This is the time to make changes in the length.

o    Write the measurement down.

o    Repeat, using the left leg. Measure carefully, the length is not always the same.

Obtain an Inseam Measurement Using a Pair of Pants

o    Find a pair of pants that fit exceptionally well. They must fit properly both in the waist and the length. Trousers loose in the waist hang lower on the body. Using them makes the measurement inaccurate.

o    Lay the pants on a table, on their right side.

o    Smooth the trousers flat.

o    Lift the left leg out of the way and measure from the crotch to the bottom of the right hem.

o    Take note of the measurement.

o    Flip the pants over and repeat with the left leg

How to Measure Women's Chest Sizes

Measure at the fullest point of the bust while wearing a good support bra to determine your chest/bust size. You will need this measurement to purchase clothing that fits properly. This number will be larger than your bra size, but is what determines the fullness of clothing in the bust area.

How to measure without a Taylor's Tape or helper:
Lay your favorite well fitting shirt on a table measure with aTaylor's Tape or standard Carpenter's Tape under the armpits from end to end

Example: measurement is 24" your well fitting shirt is a 48" chest size

How to Measure Men's Chest Size

Wear loose fitting clothing when doing your measurements. A loose shirt or T-shirt will work well during this process. Check to make sure the clothes are not too tight or too loose, as both could affect the accuracy of your measurements.
Stand up straight and tall with your head held high, relax your stomach and try to breathe normally during the measurement.
Raise your arms slightly. Have a friend place the tape measure high under your arms around the widest part of your chest. Bring the other end of the tape to zero and hold in place. Once in place, you can put your arms back down. Hold in a relaxed fashion.
Ensure that the tape measure is crossed completely over the shoulder blades in the back.
Pull the tape measure snug. As you breathe normally, have your friend place one finger between your chest and the tape. This will keep the tape from being too taut and ensure the measurement is not too small.
Level the tape measure and keep it parallel to the floor before recording the measurement. If it falls between two numbers, round up to the nearest 1/2 inch.

How to Measue Sleeve Length

Tools needed: 1 Taylor's Measuring Tape

Have the man that you are measuring stand still, with his arms falling naturally to his sides
Begin at the middle of the upper back, as shown in the picture to the right
Measure the length from the middle of the upper back to the stitching located at the shoulder of the shirt. Remember this value
Measure the length from the top stitching on the shoulder to the bottom of the wrist. Be careful not to measure too high above the wrist, or the dress shirt's sleeves will come to be too short

Add these two values together to determine your sleeve length. The value should range anywhere from about 32 - 37 inches (81,3 - 94 cm).

To measure without a Taylor's Tape or a helper:
Lay your favorite fitting shirt on a table
Stretch out one arm of the shirt smoothly to the side
Use a Taylor's Tape or standard Carpenter's tape Measure to measure from the top center of the shirt just below the collar to the bottom of the shirt's cuff.

How to Measure Neck Size

Tools needed: 1 Talyor's Measuring Tape

Wrap the measuring tape around the neck, beginning at the Adam's apple.
Come fully around the neck, leaving no dangling space in between the neck and the tape

Note the measured number. This is the actual neck size. The dress shirt size will be half an inch bigger. For example, if you measure your neck to be exactly 15 inches (38 cm) around, then your dress shirt size will be 15½ inches (39,5 cm)
